Application
Computer software; also called a program. There are many types of software that fit into the category of application. Application software is distinct from other forms of software, such as operating system and utility software.*

Host
A computer system that is accessed by a user working at a remote location. Typically, the term is used when there are two computer systems connected by modems and telephone lines.

HTML (HyperText Markup Language)
The programming language used to create documents for display on the World Wide Web.

HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol)
The set of rules and standards that govern how information is transmitted on the World Wide Web

Instant messaging (IM)
A type of communications service that enables you to create a kind of private chat room with another individual in order to communicate in real time over the Internet,

Internet
An international network first used to connect education and research networks, begun by the US government.
